A comparison between the new Stingray and the Viper. I know the Viper would win, but with all of the improved performance te C7 is bringing to the table, it might be closer than one would think.

This is somewhat close to what you're looking for.

I'd wait for the Z06 to come out for that comparison to happen. Although I pretty much can predict what the big magazines ( Motor Trend , Car and Driver , etc.) will say: "OMG VIPER SO CRAZY CORVETTE SO CHEAP CORVETTE WINS".

Yeah, no. I read that already. When it first came out. But that's what I'm sayin. The NEW Viper lost to the OLD Vette. So what's the NEW Vette gonna do to it?

The new Viper is too tame for that classic line to work. Plus, the Corvette isn't only about price anymore. The enhanced quality brings more value into the equation also.

The latter may be true, but reports from sources like C&D and MT still defend that the Viper is crazier than the Corvette. Inclusively, on C6 vs Gen V comparisons, both magazines gave the ZR1 the victory mostly out of that conclusion. Still want to see R&T comparing both. They're probably waiting for the C7Z.

To me, crazy isn't a bad thing. But let's be honest. At the price point they play at, there's a certain expectation of civility and refinement. Otherwise, everyone would just build turbo Miatas and old muscle cars. For 100k you could build an old Camaro way faster than either a ZR1 or Viper.

True.
